Rtizen Website (www.rtizen.com)

the rtizen website is up with the fresh content. though one or two pages here and there are still under construction, the site is largely complete and looks fabulous to me. the earlier site was a b/w thing with corporate blabber. this time they have given it a refreshing colorful look and the content I wrote for it is also completely different from all the run of the mill company websites.
http://www.rtizen.com/ is my latest achievement i daresay:D

makeshift HR

well since Rtizen is essentially a men's territory, what they lack in office is an alluring female voice that can call prospective candidates for interviews. The poor soul that I am I was present at the Rtizen office at the wrong time and they were very happy to comfortably dump the responsibilty on my shoulders. Well yes, I had to call up people and ask them to come for an interview the next day. They say I am quite good over the phone and I could see that:)...those candidates they addressed me as ma'am taking me as Rtizen HR head must be:P

But the problem was elsewhere; one or two of these people asked me what the interview was to be based on.....I was on the fringe of mumbling and fumbling when I pulled the brakes hard and screeeechh......I managed to utter a few words like mysql and php and postgresql.....hahahaha.....they were convinced...and said the rest themselves making my job easier....perhaps I shud look at some sort of counselling or palmistry as a career option...

Knowing Rtizen- the first look

Rtizen came into my radar around the October-November of 2006. Biri (Arijit Basu) and a few of his ex-school mates had decided to design a website for their school- the Hindu School Kolkata. Now Arijit was an old friend and he had mentioned the school website quite a few times earlier as well. Though I knew, this job was not going to bring me any money, it was still my first attempt at freelancing and the job came off well it seems- they said they liked my writing. In fact they still have my name on the website- http://www.hindu-school.com/acknowledgement.htm. Ms Pallavi Banerjee:).

It was quite thrilling you know, to see my name up there on a website. Anyways, I was talking about Rtizen. So this site was designed by Rtizen (http://www.rtizen.com/) and the Linux webserver space for the site was given by Mediartizen (http://www.mediartizen.com/) their sister concern. And in fact I am quite indebted to the Rtizen folks because they got me a few other freelance projects as well. Off the record, I wrote content for their company's website as well. And that was my first attempt at corporate writing as such.

The key point of contact regarding the Hindu School website was Mr. Arindam Nath, Biri's senior. He was designing the site and owned the Rtizen as well I heard. Not the only owner of the company though- there was Mr. Avik Sarkar (the other partner) as well whom I was later to call Babajibon but that's another story and is not meant for this space.

So the first day I visitd their office, this Biri and Arindam sat talking some techno bullshit that quite escaped my grey matter. I sat baffled, smoking a cigarette (I was an avid smoker then) while they carried on with their blah blah blah....

But the best part about Rtizen is the people out there. Talk about fun at work....ugh how i really wished that was my office. These people pull each other's leg, shout slangs, does god knows what to each other....all along meeting deadlines with indomitable life and youthfulness. They design websites and also program softwares I heard but the technophobe that I am surely I cannot tell you much about their software. In any case who bothers about men's software:P

But I did tell them that some day when I'll have my own office, I'll purchase their products and get a website designed by them:D....sounds funny?? well who knows? may be some day....
